BeSpoke...a custom made way to help our community

I've joined up with two other small businesses, North West English and Finishing touch, and together we have created an organisation called BeSpoke. If you've been following the studio on Facebook or Twitter @SecretGStudio, you may have heard me mention it over the last couple of month, I thought I would share a little bit more about it

What is Bespoke? BeSpoke is a new Social Enterprise based in St Helens Merseyside. BeSpoke is all about integration, raising awareness, providing opportunities, giving practical support and information, and offering positive life experiences to the most vulnerable in our community. Whether they be refugees, asylum seekers, homeless, have mental health issues or living on the breadline, we are here to help. How are we going to help? BeSpoke is looking to provide workshops, language lessons, act as an information and referral portal, develop volunteer and work placement opportunities, hold awareness raising events and provide a safe environment for people in our community to have a helping hand towards having a happier, healthier and safer life. Our work, workshops and events. Initially we will be looking to provide positive life experience by holding wellbeing art and craft workshops, working with partners to provide volunteer and paid work placement opportunities. Providing language courses to help in the integration process. We also have plans for the near future to hold awareness raising events on social integration issues, such as social, cultural and refugee awareness sessions and mental health awareness sessions. We will be contacting potential partner organisations within the community to look at how best to combine services and identify those most in need.

We are also looking to provide work experience through a 'reuse and repurpose' project. Turning peoples's old furniture and housewares into our Bespoke range 'Under One Moon', we guarentee it will be something beautiful and affordable! All profits from this project will go straight back into providing services for those that need it. Helping us help those that need us It's sad to think that in the first two decades of the 21st Century, we still live in a world where people are stigmatised by their cultural background, their housing status, their poor income and their health issues. In recent years this situation seems to have become worse and is not looking to improve. We are working to make our little part of the world happier and more positive. If you would like to help, here are some things that you can do to help_ Individuals can_ Donate your unwanted furniture and household goods Buy our Bespoke range of goods look for the 'Under One Moon' label Attend our fundraising events, we will be holding crafternoons, craft fairs, cultural evenings, seminars and workshops.
